28/08/2010 - "The Battle of Maldon" Finally Released

Though plagued by disruptive relocalizations of DTG Productions' headquarters, Director David Waugh pulled through to release the long-awaited "The Battle of Maldon". "While I debated at length as to whether the film should be produced in the epic poem's original Old English, in the end it was decided that acessibility was paramount," he stated at the premiere. "Our film is to act as a gateway of sorts, a means by which to introduce the layman to pre-Conquest literature. To this end we effected a minimal amount of editing, in an effort to provide an authentic impression of the genre. For those interested, we also provided a version including subtitles from the original poem."
The battle in question happened in AD 991 in Maldon, England, north-east of London. The poem is unfortunately a fragment: the opening and closing lines are lost.

One will recall that this is the account of the eponymous struggle between Viking raiders and the English Earl Byrhtnoð that occurred in AD 991," he pursued, thereby putting an end to the rumors that had been swirling for months. "Whether the film will be narrated in modern English or the original Old English is still under revision."
